I am taking delivery of some pawlownia wood this weekend to make a new design prototype wooden longboard. My workshop is near Constantine, anyone interested to see wood in its unshaped form do come along. Planning an open weekend design and build workshop in the summer. Call first 07800869626 Rory

Great to follow this. Brings back memories of spots I surfed with Johnny Manetta of Tris Surf Shop in the early '70s. Stop in and ask him. He is Mr Porthtowan surf history and he should know, he created most of it. Better yet, take him next door to the Blue and by him a pint and maybe you'll hear "...the rest of the story".... cheers
Hi Lou,
yes, there definitely is surf in North Wales, on Anglesey (it's been some 10 years that I was there, and I didn't stand up surf back then, but I think the place was called Rhosneigr). Might be a bit far to drive from Leeds, mind.
Re: NE: Saltburn is listed, incl a surf-shop & hire (www.saltburnsurf.co.uk 01287 625321). I looked it up: there are actually some 20 breaks listed up there, from M'brough to Berwick-upon-Tweed... Not sure if they are listed on the net somewhere,-- may be look at Magic Seaweed??? (www.magicseaweed.com)??? I'm sure you'll find something suitable! Good luck! T.
P.S.: Never mind the "too cool for school" lot. I've never ripped, I never will, and I don't have to! Take care, T.
